Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce is sharing some good news coming from Washington, DC. The agency just got approved for accreditation by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Executive Director, Pamela Matt, says the recognition will boost the Chamber's standing locally, and nationally. "One of the things that you recognize through the United States Chamber of Commerce accreditation, is for your strong policies for promoting business and way of life in your community, so those are part of our mission. It gives us national recognition for what we've been doing, and bassically a bar of excellence to take forward into the future," she said.

The accreditation is the only national program that recognizes Chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. Matt says to receive accreditation the Chamber had to meet certain standards, in areas like government, government-affairs and technology. The process can take between 6 to 9 months to complete Matt said.
