New York Gas Prices Down A Penny For Second Straight Week
With the summer driving season coming to a close, gas prices are inching downward in New York state.
According to AAA, the average price in New York is $2.99 a gallon, down a penny from last week, but up 50 cents from this time last year.
The average price in the Utica-Rome area is $2.95 a gallon.
Ed Welsh, Regional General Manager for AAA Northeast, says the slight decline mirrors a drop-in consumer demand from July and increasing inventory.
“Compared to July, consumer demand for gasoline is lessening and prices are starting to follow suit,” said Welsh. “The national average is expected to keep moving lower, especially with the switchover to winter-blend gasoline in late September.”
