Newport Woman Charged With Welfare Fraud

A Newport woman has been arrested on welfare fraud charges.

The Herkimer County Sheriff's Office says 30-year old Richelle Bienkowski allegedly received $16,645 in SNAP benefits which she was not entitled to from July 2012 to April of 2015.

Bienkowski was also charged with grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing.

She was arraigned in the Town of Little Falls Court and released on her own recognizance.
