Nieves Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter In Death of Seven Month Old

A Utica man has accepted a plea offer in the death of his girlfriend's seven-month old daughter.

20-year old Jason Nieves was in Oneida County Court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to a first-degree manslaughter charge.

Nieves had been charged with second-degree murder.

Emelina Sanchez died of head injuries at a Syracuse hospital in January.  Nieves had been babysitting the child.

He'll be sentenced to 20 years in prison on the manslaughter charge on June 26th.
