Northern New York Wildlife Areas To Open For 16 Days

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The Department of Environmental Conservation is opening some normally restricted Wildlife Management Areas to the public in Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties next weekend.

During a 16-day period starting Aug. 13, Perch River in Jefferson County and Upper and Lower Lakes and Wilson Hill in St. Lawrence County will be open to visitors.

Access is normally restricted because the wetlands are used by endangered, threatened and rare species including bald eagles, black terns and northern harriers. The areas are being opened between the end of nesting and brooding and the start of fall migration.
