NUAIR and Griffiss International Airport have received their first Certificate of Authorization from the FAA to begin the testing of unmanned aircraft systems in Rome.

This will be the first test flight conducted by NUAIR after being chosen to operate one of six UAS test sites in the United States.

Before the first test flights can begin, NUAIR will establish an independent safety review board to collect information and create a flight plan..

That process is expected to take two weeks to complete.

Once the process is finished, NUAIR will coordinate a series of test flights on behalf of Cornell Cooperative Extension.
