CAMP SMITH, N.Y. (AP) — New York state police continue to investigate the death of a New Jersey teenager whose body was found nearly a half century ago near the Bear Mountain Bridge.

A boy walking in a wooded area near Camp Smith discovered the body of 15-year-old Alice Lezan in March 1970. He found the corpse wrapped in a sleeping bag and bound with rope at the bottom of a 60-foot drop, but when he told his parents they didn't believe him at first.

Authorities finally were notified eight months later and Lezan's remains were recovered. She was identified using dental records and her death was ruled a homicide.

The victim was last seen in midtown Manhattan in September 1969. She was with a man believed to have tried to lure her into prostitution.
