SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — An upstate New York man has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for killing a man, dismembering the body and disposing of it in various trash receptacles.

Prosecutors say 30-year-old Corey Slattery lured Aikeem Hudgins to his Cicero apartment in December 2016 and strangled and stabbed him. Officials say Slattery dismembered the body with a chainsaw and tried to bury or burn it before eventually putting it in trash receptacles in Onondaga and Oswego counties.

Slattery pleaded guilty to murder in November. At sentencing Thursday, Judge Stephen Dougherty said he feels Slattery hasn't taken responsibility for his actions and deserves more than 20 years in prison.

A witness, Connie Ingoldby, previously pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution for helping Slattery cover up the crime.
