Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Oneida County 911 Emergency Call Center took more than 350,000 calls in 2012.

County Executive Anthony Picente calls the first year of fielding emergency calls from all county municipalities a major step in protecting the public and developing strong inter-governmental operations.

The county handled nearly 52-thousand responses for the city of Utica Police Department and also responded for the Utica Fire Department over 13-thousand times.

Picente says the consolidation of 911 services increases efficiency in both the use of taxpayer dollars and addressing public safety needs.
