Police agencies in Oneida County will be taking part in a special law enforcement effort to crack down on drunk drivers throughout the Fourth of July holiday.

The crackdown period will begin on Thursday and run through July 7th.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office, along with the Whitesboro, Whitestown, New York Mills, Utica and Rome Police Departments will be participatng in the initiative.

The Oneida County Stop DWI program received a $25,600 state grant to conduct this and other selective crackdowns through September.
