Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri and Rome Mayor Jacqueline Izzo are issuing a joint statement regarding the distribution of sales tax revenue in Oneida County.

Palmieri and Izzo are part of a nine-member committee appointed by Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente to make recommendations on restructuring the sales tax formula for municipalities.

The two say they've consulted with their financial personnel and thoroughly reviewed the sales tax distribution issue.

The mayors say the current sales tax formula is one of the most complex in the state, and it's their obligation and responsibility to ensure any revisions to the formula are in the short and long term interests of their respective cities.

They say they'll continue a dialogue with the County Executive to see if they can collectively come up with an agreement that is palatable.
