Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente has named former County Probation Director David Tomidy interim STOP-DWI Coordinator.

Tomidy retired in December after serving 12 years as Probation Director and 45 years in the department.  He'll assume his new duties effective Monday.

“Dave Tomidy was an extraordinary leader for Oneida County and I take great comfort in the fact that he will be overseeing our STOP-DWI program and stabilizing it during this time of transition,” Picente said. “His experience and expertise will prove invaluable as we seek the right person to permanently direct this important program on a new path into the future.”

A search for a permanent replacement is being conducted.

54-year-old Thomas Giruzzi of Utica was removed from the STOP DWI Coordinator position after he was arrested Tuesday night for DWI-Drugs.
