Utica, NY (WIBX) - An new poll on immigration finds that 67 percent of U.S. voters say it's better to enforce existing laws, rather than create new ones to combat illegal immigration. The survey conducted by Rasmussen, shows only 24 percent of people say creating new laws is the best course of action the country should take.

The poll also finds that, 65 percent of people say it's better to gain control of the borders, instead of legalizing the status of undocumented workers already living in the U.S. And, when it comes to enforcing immigration laws, 67 percent of American voters support a state's right to enforce them -- like Arizona recently did -- when it finds that the federal government is not enforcing the laws. According to officials with Rasmussen, 1,000 likely voters were polled nationwide for these results.
