A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Thursday at the former Security Building on Bleecker Street in Utica.

Bowers Development restored the 18,500 square foot, formerly contaminated, historical building.

Mayor Robert Palmieri says Bowers' redevelopment of the property, one of six Bowers' projects in Utica, is part of the City's rebirth.

“This project is a double-bonus for the City of Utica and the residents of Utica,” Palmieri said. “Not only does it restore this historic property to glory, but it also houses a tenant that provides a needed service to our population. I couldn’t be happier about the outcome of this project, I can’t say enough about the partners involved and I’m excited to watch our City continue to evolve.”

The entire building has been leased for ten years by the Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York.
