ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a 49-year-old woman is hospitalized in Rochester with serious injuries after a large tree split in half and fell on her.

Officers say she was in a driveway on Edgerton Street Sunday afternoon when part of an oak tree fell on her.

Rochester police say the woman is in Strong Memorial Hospital but her injuries aren't considered life-threatening.

WHAM-TV reports the tree had white markings on it, indicating that it was set to be removed. The city's Forestry Department says it's looking into when the tree was marked and why it wasn't removed sooner.
