Rome firefighters used the drug Naxolone to this week to revive a 62-year old man who had overdosed on pain medication.

Naxolone, also known as Narcan, is used to counteract an overdose from an Opioid based medication.

Shortly after Narcan was administered, the man's breathing improved and he was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

It's the seventh Opioid overdose the Rome Fire Department has responded to this month.
