Rome Man Charged With Rape

A Rome man has been arrested on a rape charge following an investigation by the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.

The charges against 42-year old Douglas Shepard stem from an alleged incident involving a girl under the age of 13.

Officials say the incidents have taken place over a two-year period.

Shepard was sent to the County jail on $75,000 bail.

The victim was offered counseling through the Child Advocacy Center.
