Rome, NY (WIBX) - The City of Rome is reaching out to aid an Alabama city hit hard by the recent tornadoes.

Cordova, Alabama has a special connection to Rome.

Cordova was the home of Lt. Colonel Steve Reed, former Deputy Site Commander of the Air Force Research Lab in Rome.

Reed says any help from his adopted hometown would be vital to help Cordova's efforts to survive and overcome the disaster.

Baby items -- diapers and wipes, baby formula and baby clothes -- bottled water and non-perishable food, batteries and other household items are needed.

Clothing is not being collected at this time.

You can drop off items at Rome City Hall from 8:30 to 4:30 daily.

Items donated will be hauled to Alabama courtesy of Joe Mammone of M & L Trucking.

Anyone who would like to make a large donation is asked to call the Rome Recreation Department at City Hall at 339-7656.
