Rome Teachers Association Vice President Christina Steurrys says hundreds turned out to support them.

She says the renovation at the school will disrupt the educational environments of nearly seventy percent of the students.

Steurrys suggests temporarily relocating seventh graders to Fort Stanwix and eighth graders to the New York State School for the Deaf so that their learning environments are not disrupted.  That option, however, has been taken off of the table, and she wants the Board of Education to take a step back and revisit their decision.

Organizers say they do not expect they'll change the Board of Education's decision to proceed with construction but they say they have to try.
