Utica, NY (WIBX) - A domestic dispute involving a knife led to the arrest of a level three sex offender. Utica police say they responded to the Olbiston Apartments on Genesee street around 8:15 last night, and took 33-year-old Michael Johnson into custody, after he allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a knife.

According to the victim, Johnson slapped her across the face, pushed her onto a bed and choked her. He's also accused of pulling a knife on the woman, telling her he would stab her and the police if they came, when she attempted to call 9-11 for help.

Johnson is facing the following charges:

  • Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (a class D Felony),
  • Menacing in the second degree,
  • Criminal obstruction of breathing, and
  • Harassment in the second degree.

In 2003, Johnson was arrested for possessing a sexual performance by a child. The victim in that case was 7-years-old. His sex-offender registration information can be found by clicking on the link below:
