Snowmobile Crash On Town Of Webb Lake Claims The Life Of A Rome Man

A Rome man is dead following a snowmobile crash on Woodhull Lake in the Town of Webb.

According to State Police, the accident happened Sunday morning just before 11 a.m.

Officials say, 59-year-old Michael Gosson was operating a 2019 Polaris eastbound on the lake when he struck a large rock portruding from the ice.

His sled became airborne and Gosson was ejected. He was then located by two members of his snowmobiling group, who called 911.

Mr. Gosson was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
