Someone's been stealing money from farm stands in Madison County.
The sheriff's office is alerting farmers that there have been several cases of cash being taken from jars outside of farm stands in the Cazenovia area.

These are unattended fruit and vegetable stands where farmers are using the honor system.

The sheriff's office believes that pair responsible are a while female who is walking on a crutch, and a white man with long braided hair. The couple has been seen driving a white SUV and may also be involved in at least one larceny where property was stolen from inside a vehicle, the sheriff's office said via a news release.

“While the tradition of using the honor system is, luckily, still a business option here in Madison County, those with farm stands should consider a trail camera in the immediate vicinity.  They can be purchased at a very reasonable price from numerous local and online retailers and can discourage this type of behavior,'' Undersheriff John Ball said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Madison County Sheriff's Office at 315-366-2311.
