Standoff In Rome Comes To Peaceful End
An early morning standoff at the Windsor Mews Apartment complex on North Levitt Street in Rome came to a peaceful end.
Rome Police responded for a report of a distraught man who had barricaded himself inside his apartment.
Police say the man was screaming and yelling and reportedly had a handgun.
Officers quickly evacuated the surrounding apartments and attempted to speak with the man.
After more than three and- a-half hours of negotiations, the man exited the apartment and was taken into custody without incident.
A pellet gun was recovered at the scene.
The man was transported to Rome Hospital for an evaluation.
