The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) held two of its championship events in the Greater Binghamton area this weekend.  The state held its track and field championships at Union-Endicott High School and Ty Cobb Stadium.  At the same time U-E's Pete Sylvester Stadium was the site of the state's Class A semifinal baseball games, one of which featured the Vestal Golden Bears against Whitesboro which ended in a Vestal 7-0 victory.

Along with baseball semifinals at U-E other baseball semifinals were held at NYSEG Stadium, Conlon Field in Binghamton, Gary Crooks Field at Maine-Endwell and Binghamton University.  Then on Saturday baseball championships were held at NYSEG Stadium and BU.

Not only did the events bring money into the schools and fields taking part but brought a sizable amount of revenue into restaurants, hotels and shopping areas around the county.  Motels on the Vestal Parkway and around the area were jammed with teams and family and friends who made the trip to watch the competition.  Team and spectator buses were spotted in front of hotels and restaurants in the area on Friday night and Saturday as well.
