State Lawmakers Receive Death Threat Letters

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — At least six female state lawmakers in New York have received letters containing death threats.

Republican Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney of Oneida County told New York Post columnist Fred Dicker in a radio interview Tuesday that she received one of the letters, which claimed she would be assassinated.

Tenney says the letter came from New York City. Tenney is a member of the Assembly's Education Committee and says at least two other female lawmakers on the committee received similar letters.

Tenney says the state police have been notified and are investigating.

The reason for the threats isn't clear.

A spokesman for the law enforcement agency declined to comment on active investigations.
