ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Hundreds of state personnel and fleets of vehicles and other equipment are being dispatched to areas of upstate New York recovering from severe flash flooding earlier this week.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday directed recovery teams to the Finger Lakes region and parts of the Southern Tier to help local residents and governments clean up and repair damage caused by Tuesday's flooding.

In addition to 200 National Guard soldiers mobilized to help recovery efforts, the Democrat also ordered teams from the transportation, environmental conservation and financial services departments to head to the hardest hit areas.

Hundreds of trucks and construction vehicles are being deployed, while the state has prepared stockpiles of generators, light towers, pumps and sandbags that are ready for distribution.
