A New York State Trooper fatally shot a 24-year-old man at a home in the Town of Lee on Tuesday evening, according to state police officials.

Authorities had been called to a residence on Golly Road for an overdose, officials said. At some point, the man went after first responders with a weapon, officials said, and the trooper then shot the man.

The man, who has not yet been publicly identified, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

More information on the incident is expected to be released later today.
