ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The leader of New York's public university system is set to give her annual assessment of the system and the year ahead.

State University of New York Chancellor Nancy Zimpher is scheduled to deliver the 2017 State of the University address in Albany on Monday.

It will be Zimpher's seventh such address.

Zimpher's past addresses have emphasized efforts at improving college completion rates. To that end, Zimpher supports Gov. Andrew Cuomo's plan to make SUNY and CUNY colleges tuition-free for certain New York residents through an Excelsior scholarship that would pay the part of the tuition not covered by financial aid. Families earning $125,000 or less per year would be eligible.

SUNY has 64 college and university campuses in New York and more than 440,000 enrolled students.
