LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (AP) — Police say they've charged a 20-year-old man with fatally stabbing another man after breaking into the victim's Buffalo-area home.

Authorities in the city of Lackawanna say Christian Gillie of Buffalo got into 23-year-old Robert Wheeler's home early Tuesday morning and stabbed him 25 times. Police say Wheeler fought off Gillie and warned sleeping family members before he died.

Gillie was arraigned on second-degree murder charges and is being held in the Erie County Holding Center pending his next court date Friday.

It couldn't be determined if he has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
