The Stanley first opened its doors on September 10, 1928 with just under 3,000 seats. It was designed by famous architect Thomas Lamb - who diagrammed dozens of 'movie palaces' in the early 1900s in the US and Canada. Among his best known projects are Fox Theatre in San Francisco and Capitol Theatre in New York City; and other CNY venues Proctor's Theatre in Schenectady and Syracuse's Landmark Theatre.
