Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica police arrested two people last night, after witnessing part of a domestic dispute that started with a car chase, then a collision, followed by threats made with a knife. Officials say it happened when 33-year-old Taja James, of Sunset Avenue, started chasing his ex-wife in his car near Court Street. The woman, 35-year-old Tanya James, also of Sunset Avenue, attempted to flee in her vehicle, but was subsequently struck from behind by her ex-husband, causing her to crash into another vehicle on Roberts Street. Tanya James and her passenger then tried escaping by running to a friends house, with her ex-husband still in hot pursuit.

When the man living at the house intervened, Taja James, allegedly threatened him with a knife. Following an investigation, both Taja and Tanya James were arrested.

Tanya James is facing the following charges after officials determined she was intoxicated:

  • 2 counts of DWI, Misdemeanors
  • Aggravated DWI, BAC of .18% or more, a Misdemeanor
  • Traffic summons

Taja James is facing the following charges:

  • Criminal Trespass, a Misdemeanor
  • 2 counts of Menacing, Misdemeanors
  • Harassment-violation
