POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — A 37-year-old man has been charged with fatally shooting a man while he sat in a car parked on a Hudson Valley street.

Police in the city of Poughkeepsie say they responded around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday to reports of shots fired on South Grand Avenue. When officers arrived they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds sitting in the driver's seat of a car.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports (http://pojonews.co/2aLYsFq ) he has been identified as Davion Reid of Poughkeepsie.

Police later charged Jermaine Johnson of Poughkeepsie with second-degree murder.

Authorities say the shooting was not a random act, although they've declined to talk about a possible motive for the killing.

Johnson is being held pending his arraignment. It couldn't be determined if he has a lawyer.
