Utica Woman Arrested For Leandra’s Law

After responding to a one car accident on Route 8, New Hartford arrested a Utica woman for DWI and Leandra's law.

Police say 26 year old Kelly Sperling's car skidded off the road while she was trying to exit onto Campion road.

After investigating, police say they found Sperling's 2 year old daughter in a car-seat in the car.

Sperling was found to be intoxicated and also allegedly resisted arrest.

She was arrested and charged with DWI, aggravated DWI with a child in the car, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, refusal to submit to a breath test and speeding.

Sperling was sent to the Oneida County Jail on $2,500 bail and her daughter was turned over to child protective services until an investigation is conducted.
