Was Your Credit Card Number Stolen At Barnes And Noble?

New York, NY (WIBX) - Barnes and Noble is saying hackers broke into more than sixty stores around the country, but none are in our area.

Hackers put bugs in PIN devices kept at cash registers and stole credit card information and PIN numbers from thousands of customers.

The company has since removed keypads from all of its nearly seven hundred stores around the country.

Although none of the stores were in our listening area if you suspect that your information may have been compromised, Mary Ellen Keating, Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, tells WIBX that customers should do the following:

• Change PIN numbers on cards
• Review statements for unauthorized transactions
• Notify the card issuer immediately if unauthorized purchases are discovered.
