A water main break is causing many homes in Rome, New York to be without water this morning.

The City of Rome Public Works Department says a crew has been working on the problem since last night.  They have pinpointed the location of the break and crews expect to have repairs completed by this afternoon.

The homes affected are mostly those on the 500 block of South George Street to Muck Road.

Residents will be asked to run the water until it is clear once it is restored.  A boil water advisory may be put in effect for some time afterward although officials have not yet issued an advisory.
