An autopsy is being performed on the body of a woman found in a creek in Vernon, New York.

The Village of Vernon Police Department was called just after 3:00pm on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 for report of a deceased person in the water.  There they found the body of a woman in her late 20's.  Her name is not being released until her family has been notified.

The creek in which she was found is behind Bartholomew Park at 10 Ruth Street.

Vernon Police are being assisted in the investigation by New York State Police.  Authorities have not yet indicated whether they think foul play was involved.
