Worker Injured In Attack At Central New York Psychiatric Center

A worker at the Central New York Psychiatric Center in Marcy was injured after allegedly being assaulted by a patient at the facility.

The New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association says the Security Hospital Treatment Assistant was punched repeatedly by the inmate.

They say she stumbled back as she was being assaulted and tried to defend herself from the attack.  As the inmate continued the attack, additional staff arrived and was able to restrain her.

The SHTA suffered a cut over her left eye, a cervical sprain and pain and swelling to her neck.  She was treated at a local hospital and released.

The incident was reported to State Police.
