Yankees Sending Garcia To The Bullpen
The Yankees are adjusting the starting rotation.
Manager Joe Girardi is moving Freddy Garcia to the bullpen, in favor of rookie David Phelps, at least for now.
Garcia is 0-2 with an ERA above 12, and is coming off back to back outings of just 1 2/3 innings. Saturday he was knocked around for six runs in the Yankees 7-5 loss to Detroit.
Reports indicate Andy Pettitte may be ready to be called up the second week of May.
Also on Sunday, New York optioned Cody Eppley to Triple-A Scranton, and called up reliever D.J. Mitchell.
