$7.5 Million In Federal Funding Headed To Griffiss Airport
Over $7.5 million in federal funding is headed to Griffiss International Airport in Rome.
Congresswoman Claudia Tenney announced the funding on Tuesday.
The funding is awarded through a grant allocated by the Department of Transportation
The money will be used for necessary improvements, including the reconstruction of the runway and runway lighting.
“As an important regional asset, Griffiss International Airport has been a key contributor in helping to grow our local economy in the Utica-Rome area. The $7.5 million in federal grants I assisted in securing will allow Griffiss to continue to expand and upgrade outdated infrastructure to better serve the aviation needs of Mohawk Valley, ” said Tenney. “I will continue my strong advocacy and continue to deliver the resources our region needs to repair and upgrade our outdated infrastructure."
