AAA’s Great Battery Roundup Happening Next Week

In commemoration of Earth Day, AAA is holding its Great Battery Roundup next week.

You can drop off your old car, motorcycle or truck batteries from 8:00 to 3:00 at the Central Region AAA office on Court Street in Utica.

AAA General Manager Ed Welsh says the batteries are then recycled and kept out of landfills.

“Leaking acid can be a harmful to children, pets and our environment warns AAA. The acid found in these batteries could seep into the ground, polluting our surroundings for generations to come,” said Welsh.

AAA recommends that consumers wear gloves and safety glasses when handling batteries, keep them upright and place batteries in a sturdy box or plastic container when transporting them for recycling.

AAA has recycled over one million batteries in the United States and Canada since 1997.
