Aaron Rodgers ‘Disappointed’ in Ryan Braun for Lying to Him About PEDs
Ryan Braun can add yet another – and famous -- name to the long list of people who feel deceived by him.
Green Bay Packers quarterback and fellow Wisconsin sports icon Aaron Rodgers had infamously bet his annual salary that Braun did not take performance-enhancing drugs, but he now also feels let down after the Brewers outfielder essentially admitted to it after accepting a suspension that will last the rest of the season.
Rodgers said he was “shocked” when he heard about the suspension and said he had previously stood by Braun. “I was backing up a friend,” Rodgers said. “He looked me in the eye on multiple occasions and repeatedly denied these allegations and said they were not true."
Rodgers said the whole situation is ugly:
So, it is disappointing, not only for myself as a friend, but for obviously Wisconsin sports fans, Brewer fans, really baseball fans. It doesn't feel great being lied to like that and I'm disappointed in the way it all went down….I was disappointed in the way it went down. ... I trusted him. That's the thing that probably hurts the most."
Rodgers and Braun own a restaurant together, although whether they will remain in business remains to be seen. Rodgers said, “That's yet to be determined….As far as the business goes, right now I'm focused on football and I have people who can help me with those issues."
