American Red Cross Announces Recipients Of Real Heroes Awards

Utica, NY (WIBX) - The American Red Cross is announcing the recipients of this year's Real Heroes Awards. Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito is receiving the 2011 Community Leadership Award, the group's highest honor. Officials say Destito was selected for her public service representing the 116th State Assembly District.

The breakfast event planned for June 10th at the Beeches Restaurant in Rome, will also recognize the following members of the community for their service and leadership:

Mike Drahos - Youth Leadership Award

Tim Ramos - Emergency Response Award

Donald Moore - Emergency Response Award

Michael Burger - Emergency Response Award

Capt. Richard Meeker - Military Award

SSgt. Jamie Prindle - Military Award

Diane Butler - Clara Barton Award

Harold Chrysler - Good Samaritan Award

William Martin - Blood Donor Award

Congressman Richard Hanna will be the Keynote Speaker at the event. Tickets to the 5th Annual Real Heroes Awards Ceremony are $20 and organizers say the proceeds is to benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Services of the Rome Area Chapter.
