Independent candidate for the 22nd Congressional District seat Martin Babinec has filed over 10,000 signatures with the State Board of Elections to establish the Upstate Jobs Party line.

Election law requires 3,500 signatures from any registered voter who has not already signed a petition for a congressional candidate to create a new ballot line.

Just last week, Babinec was declared the official winner of the Reform Party primary.

The Little Falls businessman will face Republican Claudia Tenney and Broome County Democrat Kim Myers in November.for the seat currently held by Richard Hanna.

Hanna is stepping down at the end of the year.
