Binghamton Police Get New Protective Equipment

Binghamton Police are now equipped with active shooter kits including heavy-duty bullet proof vests and helmets.

Police have received a $36,000 grant to purchase the equipment that will better protect officers responding to dangerous situations.

The kits are located in 24 marked and un-marked cars.

Police officials say incidents that bear the threat of an active shooter are becoming more frequent and the new equipment will boost safety for responding officers.
