A US Congressman was shot Wednesday morning while practicing at a baseball field.

Based on information from the FOX News Radio top of the hour update, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, a Republican from Louisiana suffered a gunshot wound to his hip. The incident reportedly happened in Alexandria, Virginia at around 7:15 local time Wednesday morning, reports said.

The FOX report indicated Scalise had been at a baseball field practicing for an upcoming charity game. FOX reported the gunman arrived at the field with a rifle and began shooting.

Other media outlets are reporting congressional aides were wounded in incident as well, along with members of the capital police department.
