Utica, NY (WIBX) - As the votes continue to stream in to decide the winner of the 116th Assembly Special Election, Anthony Brindisi stands amongst a group of his supporters to talk about his plans for the future.

One word in particular he continues to mention has a direct impact on many in the area; jobs.

Brindisi's focus on improving the state's workforce has been a mainstay since the very beginning of his campaign, and even now, there are no signs of it changing just yet.

"We have a lot of work to do in the Mohawk Valley and the big issue here as it is among most of the people in the State is jobs. We've got to get this economy back on track and we've got to get New York State moving forward again and I'm going to work with anyone that's willing to do that."

Other supporters of Brindisi's campaign like Joan True feel that his ability to work in support of children makes him a key candidate to take over the post formerly held by long-time Assemblywoman Roann Destito.

"I think he can have a lot of stuff for the kids and support the schools with the education. He says he's on the education board and all that, which is great. I think it's super."

Among those in attendance at Union Station's Blue Flag Room were Mayor Dave Roefaro, who has openly supported Brindisi since first announcing his candidacy.
