Police received a harassment complaint shortly before 6 p.m. on March 5.

A student who was attending an American history class claimed Calvin Harris shouted profanities and threatened him as he left the building on Main Street.

According to the student's account, the incident followed a class discussion that at one point turned to a murder case that led to a reference to the Calvin Harris case.

The student told police at one point he indicated "he thought Harris would get off." A woman in the rear of the classroom then revealed it was her father who was being discussed.

The student said the instructor immediately changed the conversation. He said he later apologized to the instructor if he had upset anyone.

The police report indicates the student said as he exited the building, he saw Harris get out of a truck. The student said Harris began "shouting profanities at him and threatened he would get him."

The report says the student indicated Harris "brushed up against him several times in an attempt to get him to fight while pointing his fingers in his face."

The student told police "he felt threatened for his physical safety" and wanted to pursue a harassment charge against Harris.

According to Owego police, a harassment report was completed and a criminal summons was sent to the Spencer home of Calvin Harris this week.

Police say Harris will be directed to appear in Owego village court to respond to the alleged violation at a future date.

Harris currently is on trial for murder in Schoharie County in connection with the 2001 disappearance of his wife, Michele.
