LANCASTER, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a Canadian truck driver has been charged in last week's hit-and-run death of a 28-year-old man who was struck while walking along a suburban Buffalo road.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office says police in the town of Lancaster used surveillance video from several sources to identify the tractor-trailer that hit Ryan Johns, of Depew, late on the night of June 21.

Authorities say 32-year-old Sebastien Lavertu, of Danville, Quebec, was taken into custody when his damaged truck crossed from Quebec into New York state at a border crossing on Lake Champlain.

Lancaster police have charged him with leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death.

It couldn't be learned from authorities if Lavertu has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
