ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — In New York state government news, the state wants more large-scale clean energy projects as the environment and energy become a key issue in the race for governor.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo's administration announced it is soliciting proposals for up to 20 large projects using wind, solar or other renewable energy sources. The request comes after Cuomo's Democratic primary challenger Cynthia Nixon criticized Cuomo's efforts to combat climate change.

Nixon's first campaign visit to Buffalo hit some snags when she had to change venues for a campaign stop twice. Her campaign blamed Cuomo for interfering, though the governor's campaign denied any meddling.

Meanwhile, Cuomo says he isn't expecting much from the final two months of the legislative session as Republicans and Democrats battle for control of the state Senate.
