Dozens of high-profile Republicans have signed a brief supporting the right for gay couples to wed. The brief includes signatures from two members of Congress, including Congressman Richard Hanna, former governors and close advisers to former President George W. Bush. This support comes ahead of Supreme Court hearings of two oral arguments over California’s Proposition 8, which blocks legal gay marriage in that state, and the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which defines marriage as only occurring between one man and one woman.
